UK: Act for Wildlife

Our government has promised to give animal protection the biggest boost in a generation—we intend to hold them to that pledge. Please ask your MP to join us in Parliament at two important events next week so that we can strengthen UK wildlife laws and end the UK fur trade.

I am writing to ask if you will use your voice in Parliament to urge the government to introduce stronger laws to protect wild animals. Please show your support by attending two events in Parliament next week—on Tuesday 4th and Thursday 6th March.

I support Humane World for Animals’ (formerly the Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International) Act for Wildlife campaign. I was shocked to learn that some of the UK’s wildlife laws are 200 years old, and that appalling acts of cruelty often go unpunished. I agree with Humane World for Animals that a new wildlife act is needed, one that gives wildlife the 21st century protections they need and deserve. Please show your support and find out more about the campaign by attending a drop-in event in Terrace Dining Room A between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday 4th March.

I am also a strong supporter of Humane World for Animals’ campaign for a Fur-Free Britain. I am deeply concerned that not only is fur farming unspeakably cruel, but it also risks creating deadly new diseases that could harm humans. As we approach the fifth anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic, please show your support for an end to the UK fur trade by attending a drop-in event in the Thames Pavilion between 9:30 and 11 a.m. on Thursday 6th March.

It matters to me that animals are given a voice in Parliament, so thank you for lending your support to these important campaigns.
